A depleted Community Darks side, missing five first team players, crashed to their first defeat of the session losing 5-2 to an organized Red Tide. Despite calling upon the considerable talents of Deji Adebayo and Dan Pike to fill in for the absent Peter Tower, Daniel Sanders, Stephen Zwanzwig, Louis Adamson and Sam Stodgehill the Darks came out flat footed. In a miserable first half, poor defending and toothlessness in attack saw the Darks go into the break trailing 4-0.
After receiving the hair-dryer treatment by the manager during the interval, the Darks started the second half brightly. Early in the half creative midfielder Daniel Smith bundled a goal in off the post to kick-start a spirited attempt at a comeback. However, despite a vast improvement in play, the Darks were never able to claw their way back into the game and it ended 5-2.
After the match striker George Parker, Jr. looked on the positive side of things, stating, “We need to remember that the league is won in the Placement Tournament.” Hopefully, the Darks will reach top form in time to secure the title their supporters so desperately crave.
